General Information

The Maui Meditation Circle was established in February, 1984. It is composed of members and friends of the Self-Realization Fellowship, a worldwide nonprofit religious organization with international headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Self-Realization Fellowship was founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda. Through its worldwide teachings, the Self-Realization Fellowship seeks to awaken greater understanding of the harmony underlying all true religions, and a fuller expression in this world of the love that unites all people when they realize their oneness in God.

Maui Meditation Circle is made up of Self-Realization Fellowship members from all parts of the island. Over the years, our Circle has expanded to include new members, and offer a wide range of devotional services and activities. Meeting in the homes of devotees, who gladly offer to create a place of fellowship, the array of services currently include: Sunday Services, which incorporates prayer, chanting, inspirational service readings, and meditation; Kirtan, with alternating periods of devotional chanting and meditation; Lesson Study, a devotional study of the Guru’s teachings in group format; Video Satsang, in which various talks by SRF monastics are viewed and discussed; and Potluck Brunch, wherein all members of the Circle gather on a quarterly basis following Sunday Service to share a good meal and enjoy divine fellowship. Member or not, all are welcome to attend any service or gathering of the Maui Meditation Circle.
